The short answer? You should wear what the hell you like! End of. I have all ages of brides walk through the boutique doors and every single one is a privilege and a joy to work with! Some are mature brides getting married again, some are mature brides that have never been married and some are still in their 20s/30s and marrying again. I’ve learned over time that for most people the circumstances that surround their wedding day are what leads them to make a decision about their outfit choice.
As a second-time bride, you have the flexibility to choose attire that makes you feel confident and comfortable while still adhering to your personal style and the formality of your wedding. Whatever your age or whatever number of marriages it’s about feeling amazing and staying true to yourself. Here are some ideas to help you make the right decision for you…
Consider Non-Traditional Colours
Many second-time brides opt for non-white or off-white dresses, such as blush, champagne, silver, or even a color that holds personal significance to you and/or your partner. The colour spectrum is all yours and it should be used to your advantage, if a big whote ballgown is what makes you feel alive then stick with it, but it’s more than okay to wear a different colur and throw away tradtions.
Choose A Style That Embraces You
Pick a wedding dress that complements your body type and reflects your personality; this advice goes out to any bride! If you’re not a dress person, then don’t wear a dress! A chic two-piece or jumpsuit can be just as beautiful. If you like a more casual or unconventional look then choose an outfit that aligns with your vision. Whether you prefer a classic, bohemian, vintage, or a contemporary look.
Accessories
Select accessories that enhance your overall look, from jewelry to a veil or headpiece if you desire. It doesn’t matter which style of outfit you’ve chosen, your accessories are part of your overall look so if a veil completes the look then wear a veil. Think about layering too. If you are wearing a simple dress then a overlay piece may be the perfect accessory that can be removed once the ceremony is over or added for the evening celebrations!
Comfort Is Key For Confidence
Since it’s your day, prioritize comfort in your attire, especially if it’s not a traditional wedding gown. If your comfortable in your outfit then the confidence will shine through. Consider the formality of your wedding venue and time of day and location of wedding when choosing your outfit. A formal evening wedding may call for a different style than a casual daytime ceremony.
Remember, there are no hard and fast rules for second-time brides. Focus on what feels right for you! Wear that big dress, wear that chic jumpsuit, and wear those skyscraper heels and a long veil! If it makes you feel beautiful and confident on your special day then it’s absolutely the right outfit choice for you!
